Explanation of Imaging Experiment

In one of the labs we did, we demonstrated the effects of manipulating exposure variables on radiographic image. We learned about window level and window width, window level has to do with brightness and window width has to do with contrast. We also learned about the 15% rule, and how increasing kvp by 15% will give you the same effect on exposure as doubling the mAs, and decreasing kvp by 15% will have the same effect on exposure as 1/2 mAs. I enjoyed this experiment because we would get a radiograph and we needed to apply the 15% rule and work it out, so then we would be able to shoot the x-ray again so we could see the changes we have applied on the exposure we made.
