On Campus Computers

All student or faculty computers can be logged into with an Aggie ID and passphrase. The accounts are managed through Central IT at NMSU Main Campus. Account creation, assignments and deletions follow admissions or employment status, based on the official records in Banner. The NMSU-A IT Department can assist with login issues such as password changes and multi-factor authenticator setup or updates.

Special Accounts

In some circumstances, individual accounts will be created to access specific campus computers. These login accounts are managed through the NMSU-A IT department. Employee accounts are created or deleted in coordination with the campus Human Resources department.

Any special student accounts are created based on requests from faculty or administration, and will be reviewed for accuracy at the end of each semester.

NMSU-A Email Distribution Lists

It is the supervisor's responsibility to ensure important information is communicated to employees to support their ability to effectively perform their job duties. Email distribution lists are one solution to help communicate to employees. Supervisors should submit a work request for any adds or deletes to these distribution lists. Please include the name and email address for any updates.

For details on faculty, student, or all campus distribution lists, contact the IT Department at 575-439-3767 or 575-439-3774.

Computer Inventory

In order to maintain an accurate account of all of the university computer equipment, a database will be maintained within the IT Department. Each device detail record has a department, building, and room number associated with it. When moving devices, the IT Department is available for assistance with networking and device setup. If you move equipment on your own, please communicate with the IT Department on the new location so inventory records can be kept up to date.

Campus Wide Wi-Fi

All campus buildings have Wi-Fi service for NMSU students, faculty and staff. Connect to Aggie-WiFi with your Aggie ID and passphrase. The NMSU Guest network is only for non-NMSU guest of the campus. If you need assistance accessing the Aggie-WiFi, please reach out to the IT Department for assistance.

Telephone Service

The telephones on campus are Cisco and are connected to our network. Any telephone work orders or questions should be directed to the IT Department. Also, if you move a phone to a new location, please report this to our department so we can update the records accordingly.
